Police reclassified a wounding case happened in Mong Kok on June 25 as murder on August 4.
At about 3.34pm on June 28, Police received a report from Kwong Wah Hospital that a man was sent to hospital in unconscious state, sustaining suspicious injuries on his body.
Police officers sped to the scene. Multiple bruises were located on the body of the 27-year-old man and he was later certified dead at 11.59am on August 4.
Initial investigation revealed that the 27-year-old man was assaulted in a unit on Larch Street in Mong Kok owing to money dispute on June 25. Two men, aged 21 and 24, were arrested for wounding during June 29 and 30; and a 34-year-old man was arrested for assaulting police officer and assisting offenders of arrestable offence on July 4. The 24-year-old arrested man was charged with one count of wounding with intent and the case was mentioned at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on July 3. The other two arrested men have been released on bail pending further enquiries and are required to report back to Police in late August and early September respectively.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Active investigation by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West is underway.
