Police yesterday (August 23) reclassified a wounding case happened in Kwai Chung on August 20 as manslaughter.
At 9.54am on August 21, Police received a report from a woman that, on August 20, her 94-year-old mother sustained injuries to her pelvis and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.
Initial investigation revealed that on August 20, the 94-year-old woman had a dispute with a 93-year-old woman over trivial matters at an elderly home on Lai Chi Ling Road. The 94-year-old woman was allegedly pushed over by the 93-year-old woman and fell on the ground. The 93-year-old woman was arrested for wounding on August 21. She was released on police bail and is required to report back to Police in early October.
The 94-year-old woman was certified dead at 2.39am yesterday.
Upon further investigation, Police reclassified the case as manslaughter.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Kwai Tsing District is underway.
