The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority.
Regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of residents infected with Rhinovirus/Enterovirus in a ward of Developmental Disabilities Unit, Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Department, the spokesperson for Caritas Medical Centre made the following update today (December 10):
One more resident of the same ward, a 13-year-old female, has presented with fever and upper respiratory symptoms since yesterday (December 9). Appropriate tests had been arranged for this resident and the test results were positive for Rhinovirus/Enterovirus. The resident concerned has been treated under isolation and is in stable condition.
Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other residents in the ward are still under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
