United Christian Hospital announced construction work incident
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The spokesman for the United Christian Hospital (UCH) made the following announcement today (July 11) regarding a construction works incident:
A section of steel formwork at the UCH Block S extension construction site deformed under pouring pressure, while a works contractor was placing wet concrete at around 11am this morning (July 11). As a result, wet concrete spilled out of the formwork area and damaged a glass window in an adjacent consultation room of Dentistry & Maxillofacial Surgery Department. No patients nor staff were injured, and patient services were also not affected.
The UCH is very concerned about the incident and requested the works contractor to follow up stringently to avoid recurrence of the incident. Concreting works at the related site have been suspended to ensure safety. The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advance Incident Reporting System.
