Twenty-two building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 22 building plans in October, with eight on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.
         
     Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments, and seven were for community services developments.
         
     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on 12 building projects which, when completed, will provide 7 541 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 203 units, and 315 587 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for nine building projects.
         
     The department also issued 11 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.
         
     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 15 725 sq m involving 393 units, and 40 393 sq m was for non-domestic use.
         
     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $2.7 billion.
         
     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.
         
     The department received 2 679 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in October and issued 1 099 removal orders on UBWs.
