Transcript of remarks by SCST at media session

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, at a media session after inspecting the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal this morning (August 9):

Reporter: My first question is the measures on taxi and coaches, …because last week… how long will the new measures last? My second questions is that is there any further plans…what is the long-term development plan for Kai Tak?

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism: For the time being, as you can see, we have implemented a series of new measures this morning to tackle the problem we faced last Saturday. We will continuously review the effectiveness of these measures, and we may do some fine tuning. The ultimate purpose is to make sure that when tourists arrive in Hong Kong, they can have a smooth trip to the destinations that they would like to go to after going onshore. For long-term planning, of course we have to look at the whole Kai Tak development here and look at the long-term planning to decide what role the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal should play to make the whole district a better environment for everyone.
