Transcript of remarks by CS (with photo/video)
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, at a media session after attending a radio programme this morning (June 1):
Reporter: Mr Cheung, are you worried that it may be politically incorrect if you come to any agreement with Taiwan? Because to China, Taiwan is a province, right? So would you be recognising Taiwan as a country if you come to any agreement?
Chief Secretary for Administration: I think let's not deliberate this point at this stage. I think a more important point is to get the Bill enacted in the first place so that we can have a legal basis to take things forward. Alright? Okay?
Reporter: The legal sector is quite unhappy that John Lee said they don't understand the Bill. How would you respond to this?
Chief Secretary for Administration: I think the Secretary for Security, John Lee, has explained it yesterday that it is not what he meant. It's clearly not what he meant.
