Toronto ETO proudly presents “Art at Heart – Chu Tat Shing Art Exhibition” as debut of 2023 Hong Kong Week (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (Toronto ETO) proudly presented the "Art at Heart – Chu Tat Shing Art Exhibition" as the debut of the 2023 Hong Kong Week today (August 3) (Toronto time).
      
     Jointly presented by the Toronto ETO and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, the "Art at Heart – Chu Tat Shing Art Exhibition" features a life-sized, never-seen-before statue of Bruce Lee, specifically designed and created for Canada by award-winning and renowned Hong Kong sculpture master Chu Tat-shing, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the passing of the legend martial arts superstar.
      
     The exhibition, running from August 4 through August 13, will also showcase a lineup of over 30 art pieces from Chu's studio which include a sculpture of young Sun Yat Sen during his student days in Hong Kong, as well as captivating cursive Chinese calligraphy sculptures. It will also offer visitors an unforgettable experience with talks, workshops and live demonstrations.
      
     Delivering a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Director of the Toronto ETO, Ms Emily Mo, said that Toronto ETO was honoured to bring the master art pieces of Chu to the Canadian audience.
      
     "Bruce Lee is an iconic figure who not only shaped Hong Kong's heritage but also exemplified the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. It is an immense honor to introduce the esteemed Hong Kong artist, Master Chu Tat Shing, who has graciously created a new sculpture of Bruce Lee for sharing with the art lovers in Canada," she said.
      
     Ms Mo also highlighted Hong Kong's unique status as a place where East meets West for arts and culture, adding that the West Kowloon Cultural District stands as a testament to this new role of Hong Kong, offering a world-class ensemble of cultural performances, exhibitions, and immersive experiences all year round.
      
     Besides the exhibition, the Toronto ETO is hosting the 2023 Hong Kong Week themed "Hello Hong Kong" between end-July and end-September to feature Hong Kong's new strengths, promising economic prospects and fresh cultural vision.
      
     "The unveiling of this exhibition serves as a gateway to the 2023 Hong Kong Week. This dynamic event provides updates about Hong Kong's new developments and achievements in various fields," Ms Mo said.
      
     Activities of the 2023 Hong Kong Week include art and photo exhibitions, film festivals, musical drama performances and a national business conference to be held in different Canadian cities.
