Thirteen building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 13 building plans in October, with four on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and one in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, one was for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and three were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for works to start on 10 building projects which, when completed, will provide 147 722 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 2 568 units, and 73 304 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of superstructure works for nine building projects.

     The department also issued 14 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 4 710 sq m involving 161 units, and 35 116 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $1.5 billion.

     In addition, four demolition consents involving four building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 232 reports about unauthorised building works (UBWs) in October and issued 902 removal orders on UBWs.
