THB officer preliminarily tests positive for COVID-19

The Transport and Housing Bureau (THB) said today (December 14) that an officer had tested preliminarily positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) last night (December 13).

The officer worked on the 20th floor of the East Wing of the Central Government Offices in Tamar and performed support duties without contact with members of the public while at work. He last performed his duties on December 9 and has no recent travel history. He had been wearing surgical masks while performing his duties and had properly maintained social distancing with people he had contact with. His body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.

The THB will co-operate with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) in the epidemiological investigation and will arrange for the staff who worked with the officer to undergo COVID-19 testing. The workplaces concerned will also be fully cleaned and sterilised.

The THB has strictly adopted relevant hygienic measures for infectious diseases provided by the CHP and will continue to step up the cleaning and sterilising measures for all work locations. All staff should have their body temperatures checked before performing their duties and wear masks. The bureau has reminded all staff to strictly comply with the hygienic measures for infectious diseases provided by the CHP. The staff are also reminded to consult a doctor promptly if they develop any symptoms.
