The Government is highly concerned about the suspected silent transmission chains in Tuen Mun district and has arranged ten service points for local residents and those who work there to undergo testing on a voluntary basis. More manpower has also been deployed to serve the public. Having reviewed the usage and demand for the COVID-19 testing service, the Government has decided to extend the service dates and hours of the testing service points in Tuen Mun. The mobile specimen collection stations for local residents and those working in Tuen Mun to undergo voluntary testing will open until January 16 (Sunday) the earliest, with operation to start earlier at 8am each day. The Government will continue to review the need to further extend opening dates and hours of the service points with regard to actual usage and demand.

Apart from service points in Tuen Mun, residents and those working in Tuen Mun can also go to community testing centres (CTCs)/mobile specimen collection stations (if the service scope is applicable) across the city to receive free testing service.      A spokesman for the Food and Health Bureau said, "In view of suspected silent transmission chains in Tuen Mun district, we call on local residents and those working there who are exposed to infection risks to undergo voluntary testing as soon as possible. If members of the public had visited specified premises included in compulsory testing notices (CTNs) during specified periods, they must undergo multiple compulsory tests in accordance with the CTNs. We appeal to all individuals who are in doubt about their health condition, or individuals with infection risks, such as those who had visited places with epidemic outbreaks or had contact with any case tested positive, to undergo tests promptly for early identification of infected persons to reduce the transmission risks of COVID-19.”

In view of the recent rapid surge of testing demand in Tuen Mun district, local residents, especially the elderly, may not be able to complete multiple compulsory tests on schedule. The Government will exercise discretion during enforcement operations, for instance, relevant individuals who have completed the test one day before or after the specified date for compulsory testing would be taken as having complied with the CTN.

In addition to the 19 CTCs (www.communitytest.gov.hk/en), a number of mobile specimen collection stations in various districts are in operation to provide a free testing service to the public. The locations, opening dates/hours and service scope are updated at the website www.communitytest.gov.hk/en/station.
