Organised by the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC), the Testing and Certification Manpower Development Award Scheme 2021-22 award presentation ceremony was held today (December 22).
The HKCTC launched the Award Scheme for the first time, aiming to cultivate an atmosphere in the testing and certification (T&C) sector more conducive towards manpower development. The HKCTC Chairman, Professor Albert Yu, said at the award presentation ceremony, "By organising this first ever manpower development award scheme for the T&C sector, the HKCTC hopes to encourage T&C bodies to invest in talent training and development, while also commending those T&C practitioners who strive for continuous learning and professional development, or contribute to service quality improvement."
The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Alfred Sit, said at the award presentation ceremony that he was glad to see that the whole T&C sector had been paying great importance to manpower development. He added, "In order for Hong Kong's T&C sector to better grasp the vast opportunities as provided under the National 14th Five-Year Plan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we need more capable and energetic young people to join the T&C profession for a stronger talent pool."
The Testing and Certification Manpower Development Award Scheme 2021-22 was organised by the HKCTC with six supporting organisations, namely the Association of Construction Materials Laboratories; the Hong Kong Association for Testing, Inspection and Certification; the Hong Kong Association of Medical Laboratories; the Hong Kong Institution of Certified Auditors; the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers – Materials Division; and the Qualifications Framework. There were two categories of awards under the Award Scheme – the Testing and Certification Manpower Development Corporate Award and the Excellent Testing and Certification Professional Award. The latter consisted of the Junior Professional and Middle Management sub-groups.
The Award Scheme was well received by the T&C sector. It attracted participation from public and private T&C bodies of various scales and in different fields, and their staff members. Applications received for the two categories of awards were assessed separately by two independent Assessment Panels (comprising members from academia, professional bodies and more). The list of awardees is available on the webpage of the HKCTC (www.hkctc.gov.hk/en/event/mpaward).
