The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (July 9) gazetted a notice to invite tenders for the contract for the boardwalk underneath Island Eastern Corridor (Contract No. SD/2021/02). The closing time for the tender is noon on September 17, 2021.
The works mainly include:
- provision of a boardwalk of about 2.2 kilometres long and about 10 metres wide for a pedestrian walkway and a shared use path for different users including nine access points to the hinterland, six viewing platforms and a fishing platform;
- construction of three movable bridges;
- provision of architectural features and ancillary facilities such as shelters, glass balustrades, seating, water dispensers, toilets, kiosks and a management office at Hoi Yu Street;
- beautification, modification and revitalisation works of existing facilities along the proposed boardwalk, such as the North Point Promenade, Tong Shui Road Pier, North Point Vehicular Ferry Pier, Hoi Yu Street and Island Eastern Corridor structures;
- associated road, drainage, sewerage, utilities, lighting facilities, electrical and mechanical, waterworks, and traffic engineering works; and
- implementation of an environmental monitoring and audit programme for the works mentioned above.
The works are scheduled to commence in December 2021 and will take about 40 months to complete.
The CEDD has commissioned Meinhardt Infrastructure and Environment Limited to design and supervise the works. Interested contractors may obtain the forms of tender and further particulars from the company at 10/F, Genesis, 33-35 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong.
