The Transport Department (TD) today (December 21) reminded the public that to facilitate the tram track renewal works on King's Road in North Point, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented from about 9am on December 25 to 5.30am on December 27:
(I) Traffic arrangements

Traffic lane closure and cancellation of tram lane

The slow lane of King's Road eastbound near North Point Road will be temporarily closed. The tram lane along the road section concerned will also be cancelled.
Traffic diversion
——————
Vehicles on King's Road eastbound can use the above temporarily cancelled section of tram lane.
Banning of turning movement

All vehicles exceeding 10 metres in length will be temporarily prohibited from turning left from King's Road eastbound onto North Point Road.
(II) Transport arrangements

Suspension of tram service

The tram service to and from North Point Terminus will be suspended. Hong Kong Tramways will strengthen the tram service between King's Road and Shau Kei Wan Terminus.
Suspension of tram stops

The North Point Terminus and the tram stops on Chun Yeung Street (no. 67E) and King's Road (no. 69E and 32W) will also be suspended. Affected passengers can use the Fortress Hill tram stops (nos. 65E and 34W) and Shu Kuk Street tram stops (nos. 71E and 30W).
Bus stop arrangements

The bus stops of New World First Bus route nos. 2, 2A, 8H, 18, 18P, 23, 27, 38, 42, 42C, 63, 65, 81, N8 and N122, and Citybus route nos. 8X, 10, 19, 77, 99, N8X and N72 at King's Road outside Yue Yick Building will be suspended.
The bus stops of Cross-Harbour Tunnel route nos. 102, 106, 112 and 116 at King's Road outside Yue Yick Building will be temporarily relocated to King's Road outside Sunbeam Theatre.
Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on-site to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangements.
The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of King's Road and North Point Road will be relatively busy during the above works period. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the above areas. They should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion and consider using alternative routes. Public transport commuters are advised to pay attention to the arrangements for suspension or relocation of stops.
