TD to introduce new driving improvement course on December 1

The Transport Department (TD) today (November 15) said a new driving improvement course will be launched on December 1 to replace the existing course.

The new course will not only cover safe driving techniques and measures to prevent traffic accidents, but also:

  • strengthen participant interaction in class with a view to inspiring participants to reflect on their driving habits and instil in them good driving behaviour; and
  • provide more scenario-based learning and case studies to help participants master good driving techniques and enhance their awareness of road safety.

The duration of the new course will remain at eight hours. Participants will only receive the course certificate if they pass the course-end written assessment and have satisfactory performance during the course.

Persons who have been ordered by the court or received notification from the TD to attend the driving improvement course mandatorily within a specified period may choose to complete the existing course on or before November 30, or to attend the new course from December 1, provided that the completion date of the course is still within the compliance period given by the court or as specified in the notice by the TD.

The TD has designated 16 driving improvement schools to offer the new course from December 1. For details, please visit TD's website (www.td.gov.hk) or call 2804 2600 for enquiries.
