TD reminds public of special traffic and transport arrangements in Tseung Kwan O on August 4
The Transport Department (TD) today (August 2) reminds the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Tseung Kwan O on Sunday (August 4) to facilitate a public order event.
The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:
(I) Road closures
From 12 noon on August 4, the Police may temporarily close the roads in the vicinity of MTR Po Lam Station, Hang Hau Station and Tseung Kwan O Station subject to the actual conditions. Drivers should follow the instructions on traffic diversion as given by the Police.
(II) Public transport arrangements
To cope with the traffic diversion arrangements, three bus routes and two green minibus (GMB) routes will be temporarily suspended. The routings of 19 bus routes and 19 GMB routes will be temporarily diverted within Tseung Kwan O district. Some of the en-route bus stops and GMB stands will be suspended from 1.30pm, while the actual implementation time will depend on the development of the public event. The franchised bus companies and GMB operators will display notices to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements.
(III) Cycling tracks closure
From noon on August 4, the cycling tracks at the following locations will be temporarily closed until the crowd is dispersed:
- northern kerbside of Po Fung Road;
- the subway near Ming Tat House, Ying Ming Court;
- the western kerbside of the section of Po Lam Road North east of Po Fung Road;
- the subway near Yan Kuk House, Yan Ming Court;
- the subway near King Yung House, King Lam Estate;
- the eastern and western kerbsides of the section of Po Shun Road north of the subway near King Yung House, King Lam Estate;
- the northern kerbside of Po Ning Road;
- the subway near Tak Hong House, Hau Tak Estate;
- near the Assembly of God Leung Sing Tak Primary School;
- the subway near the Assembly of God Leung Sing Tak Primary School; and
- the northern kerbside of the section of Wan Po Road outside the Hong Kong Velodrome Park
Actual implementation of and adjustments to traffic control and traffic diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas. The Police will provide instruction to road users at concerned locations. The stability of public transport services may be affected during the public procession. Public transport passengers are advised to pay attention to the arrangements of route diversions and suspension or relocation of stops. Early planning of journeys and use of alternative travelling routes are advised to avoid unexpected delays. Be alert to the latest traffic news through the media.
