More than 20 years after leaving school in Ayr, Catriona Hawthorn and Shaun Dowse have both ended up studying at Scotland’s Rural College – but 80 miles apart.

Two former SRUC students are among the finalists competing for the AgriScot Scotch Beef Farm of the Year award.

Three students from SRUC’s Aberdeen, Ayr and Edinburgh campuses will compete for a £1000 cash prize after being named as finalists in the annual AgriScot Business Skills Competition.

A fisherman and a qualified pharmacy dispensing assistant were among the 34 students graduating with an HND in Veterinary Nursing from Scotland’s Rural College.
