Conference on engaging employers in building better local jobs and creating a more responsive skills system

Event Overview

This conference organised jointly by the OECD, Warwick University, the Work Foundation, and the Centre for Cities will bring together stakeholders from national government departments, cities, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) as well as business, NGOs and research institutions to discuss the key challenges facing the United Kingdom in building more and better quality jobs.

During the event, the OECD will launch a new report on Better Use of Skills in the Workplace: Why It Matters for Productivity and Local Jobs.


Programme

The conference will focus on discussing the key challenges and opportunities from Brexit and sharing local solutions as well as international lessons from OECD countries on how effective skills policies can foster productivity and inclusive growth.

About

As part of the ongoing work of the Task Force on the Digital Economy (TFDE), the OECD sought public comments on key issues identified in a request for input related to the tax challenges raised by digitalisation and the potential options to address these challenges.

This public consultation will focus on matters covered by the written submissions that have been received:

Persons wishing to apply to attend the public consultations are invited to click here to start their application for registration. Please indicate the organisation you are representing in the appropriate box of the registration form.


All interested persons (including those who have pre-registered online) are invited to attend. No further confirmation will be sent. An “overflow” room will be available if there is insufficient space in the main meeting room, and we encourage attendees to arrive early.

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in London on 17 October 2017

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, will be in London on 17 October 2017 to present the 2017 OECD Economic Survey of the United Kingdom alongside Mr. Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer. He will also present the OECD Development Co-operation Report Data for Development, alongside Ms. Priti Patel, Secretary of State for International Development. While in London, the Secretary-General will attend the Sodexo Quality of Life conference 2017.

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in Washington, DC from 12 to 14 October 2017

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, will be in Washington, DC from 12 to 14 October 2017 to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (FM&CBG) and the 2017 International Monetary Fund / World Bank Annual Meetings.

At the FM&CBG Meeting, the Secretary-General will deliver remarks at Session I on the Global Economy and Framework for Growth and Session V on International Taxation.

Mr. Angel Gurría will also participate in the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) plenary session and present written statements to both the IMFC and Development Committee.

While in Washington, the Secretary-General will also hold several bilateral meetings with high level US and international officials.
