Fire Services Department fully supports passage of Safeguarding National Security Bill

     In response to the passage of Safeguarding National Security Bill by the Legislative Council, the Director of Fire Services, Mr Andy Yeung, today (March 19) said that, as a member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) disciplinary forces, the Fire Services Department (FSD) fully supports the Bill, thereby refining the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the HKSAR to safeguard national security.

     Mr Yeung said, “It is the constitutional duty of the HKSAR to safeguard national security. I have every confidence that upon completion of the enactment of the legislation for safeguarding national security, Hong Kong will be able to focus on the development of society, people’s livelihood and economy, and ensure the steadfast and successful implementation of ‘one country, two systems.’

     “The FSD will, as in the past, remain steadfast in its duties, stand united to promote the safety and development of Hong Kong and the country, and strive to protect the lives and properties of the public, making Hong Kong a safe place to live and work.” read more

Immigration Department fully supports passage of Safeguarding National Security Bill

     The Legislative Council passed the Safeguarding National Security Bill today (March 19), and the Director of Immigration, Mr Benson Kwok, welcomes this development. The entire staff of the Immigration Department (ImmD) will fully co-operate in implementing the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, actively eliminating any risks to national security, and protecting the interests and well-being of the Hong Kong people.

     Mr Kwok emphasises that he will continue to lead the ImmD with the departmental values of “patriotism and perservance”, and exert every effort to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests. The ImmD will continue to safeguard the country’s southern gateway to the world, by strictly adhering to all applicable laws and current immigration policies in all immigration matters, ensuring the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. read more

Hong Kong Customs is deeply encouraged by passage of Safeguarding National Security Bill

     Hong Kong Customs was deeply encouraged by the passage of the Safeguarding National Security Bill by the Legislative Council today (March 19) and will do its utmost to facilitate the effective implementation of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance in Hong Kong to safeguard national security.

     Hong Kong has gone through the unbearable and painful experience of having its national security seriously threatened in 2019. As geopolitics have become increasingly complex and national security risks remain imminent, the passage of the Ordinance can more effectively safeguard national security. Hong Kong can now focus its efforts on developing the economy, improving people’s livelihood as well as maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.

     Hong Kong Customs will continue to uphold its commitment and stand united with other disciplinary forces to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, offer full support to the effective implementation of the Ordinance in Hong Kong, and ensure the steadfast and successful implementation of “one country, two systems”. read more
