Tuen Mun Hospital appeals to public about missing patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     â€‹The spokesman for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following appeal today (May 1) regarding a patient who left the hospital without notifying hospital staff:
      
     A 14-year-old female patient left the Gynaecology ward without notifying hospital staff at around 7pm tonight.
      
     Upon discovered missing of the patient, ward staff reported the incident to security guards for searching immediately in hospital areas and at the vicinity but in vain. TMH is very concerned about the incident. The hospital contacted the patient’s relative and reported the incident to the Police. The hospital will co-operate with the Police for the search.
      
     The patient is about 1.73 metres tall with a thin body build, sharp face, white complexion with long black hair. She was wearing a black jacket and shorts when leaving TMH.
      
     The hospital appeals to members of the public to contact Tuen Mun Police Station at 3661 5800 or call 999 if they know the whereabouts of the patient. read more

Kwai Chung Hospital announces suspected assault incident involving female patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Kwai Chung Hospital today (May 1) announced a suspected assault incident involving a female patient:
 
     An 80-year-old female patient in a psychiatric ward of Kwai Chung Hospital (KCH) was suspected to be assaulted by another patient last night (April 30), resulting in injuries to her left eye. Ward staff transferred the injured patient to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment immediately. Ophthalmic surgery was performed to the patient and her condition is currently stable.
      
     KCH is very concerned about the incident. The hospital has promptly reported the incident to the Police. In order to ensure the safety of other patients, ward staff has restrained a 17-year-old patient in the same ward, who is suspected involving in the incident, amid to strengthen surveillance to the patient concerned. The hospital has explained the incident to the patients’ family and will maintain close communication with them to provide necessary support and assistance.
      
     The incident has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office via the Advance Incident Reporting System. The hospital will fully co-operate with the Police in the investigation and will review the incident so as to ascertain patient safety. read more
