Head of CEPU expresses sorrow over passing of Professor Tang Xiaoou

     â€‹The Head of Chief Executive's Policy Unit (CEPU), Dr Stephen Wong, today (December 16) expressed sorrow over the passing of Professor Tang Xiaoou, member of the Chief Executive's Council of Advisers (CECA), and extended his deepest condolences to his family on behalf of the CEPU.

     As the Secretariat, the CEPU provides research and secretariat support to the CECA. 

     "Professor Tang Xiaoou has provided a lot of valuable advice in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship and made great contributions since the establishment of the CECA in March this year. I am deeply grieved at the loss of Professor Tang. On behalf of the CEPU's colleagues, I offer deepest condolences to his family." Dr Wong said.




Update on United Christian Hospital missing patient incident

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
 
     The spokesman for United Christian Hospital (UCH) made the following update today (December 16) regarding a patient leaving the hospital without notification:
      
     The 35-year-old female patient who left the hospital earlier this morning without notification has returned to the ward shortly after 7pm tonight.




GFS rescues two crew members who fell into the sea (with video)

     â€‹The Government Flying Service (GFS) received a call today (December 16) at 12.57pm from the Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, reporting that a fishing vessel with water intake and later sank in an incident about 20 kilometers east of Dangan Island, with two crew members falling into the sea. It was reported that the wind speed at the scene reached 74 kilometers per hour, the sea wave was 5.5 meters and the water temperature was 23 degree Celsius.
      
     The GFS dispatched a H175 helicopter and a Challenger 605 fixed-wing aircraft to assist in the rescue. Both crew members were rescued and taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment at 14.13pm.




C919 aircraft fly-past over Victoria Harbour (with photos/video)

     The flight demonstration of home-grown aircraft C919 over Victoria Harbour concluded successfully this morning (December 16).

     The C919 took off from the south runway of the Hong Kong International Airport at 10.26am and overflew Victoria Harbour twice from west to east at altitudes of 1 500ft and 1 000ft respectively. It finally landed on the south runway at 11.33am.

     Against the iconic Hong Kong skyline, the home-grown aircraft of C919 soared and made its debut appearance over Victoria Harbour. The historic moment was witnessed by members of the public and tourists who lined both sides of Victoria Harbour to admire the fly-past.

     After the flight demonstration, representatives from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd (COMAC), manufacturer of the C919 and the ARJ21 aircraft, were invited to meet and interact with more than 300 young people at the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters. During the event, the representatives from COMAC introduced the development history of the C919 and the ARJ21 aircraft, as well as the stories in obtaining the airworthiness certificates of the two aircraft. The pilots of the C919 aircraft also shared their valuable flying experiences with the participants. The question-and-answer session was warmly received by young participants and they were profoundly inspired by the country's successful development of the two aircraft.

     The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Victor Liu, was very glad about the successful flight demonstration of the C919 aircraft today. Mr Liu expressed his utmost honour and pride in witnessing the C919 aircraft flying over Hong Kong skies and once again extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the COMAC for their unwavering support in arranging the visit of the domestic aircraft duo of C919 and ARJ21 to Hong Kong. Mr Liu believed that this event would undoubtedly enhance the knowledge and enthusiasm in national aviation development of young people in Hong Kong, inspire them with the country's innovative spirit, and eventually cultivated local aspirants of the aviation industry.

Missing man in Sau Mau Ping located

     A man who went missing in Sau Mau Ping has been located.     

     ZHUANG Ruguo, aged 51, went missing after he left his residence on Po Wah House, Lok Wah North Estate on December 13 morning. His family made a report to Police on the next day (December 14).
     
     The man was located at a hospital on Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong last night (December 15). He sustained no injuries and no suspicious circumstances were detected.
