Appointments to Hong Kong Trade Development Council

     The Government announced today (December 29) the appointments of Dr Sunny Chai Ngai-chiu and Dr Kennedy Wong Ying-ho as new members, and the reappointment of incumbent member, Dr Lin Yong, to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for a term of two years.
 
     The term of Dr Chai and Dr Lin will take effect from January 1, 2024, while that of Dr Wong will commence on February 1, 2024.
 
     Meanwhile, incumbent members, Mr Brian David Li Man-bun and Mr Kenneth Chan Kin-nin, will retire from the HKTDC upon completion of their terms on December 31, 2023, and January 31, 2024, respectively. A spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau expressed gratitude to the two retiring members for their devoted services and contributions towards various aspects of the HKTDC’s work.
 
     Appointments of members to the HKTDC are made by the Financial Secretary in exercise of the powers delegated to him by the Chief Executive and pursuant to section 11(1)(d) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Ordinance (Chapter 1114).


     The composition of the HKTDC with effect from February 1, 2024, is as follows:

Appointment of self-recommended youth members to Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene

     The Government announced today (December 29) the appointment of two young members to the Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene through the Member Self-recommendation Scheme for Youth (MSSY) from December 12, 2023, to March 31, 2025.

     The two young members are Miss Chan Kwan-yee and Dr Vivian Hui Chi-ching. Miss Chan is the ESG & Carbon Footprint Manager of a sustainable aquaculture company. Dr Hui is an Assistant Professor of the School of Nursing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Pittsburgh.

     The Council is a non-statutory body established on April 1, 2000, to advise the Government on food and environmental hygiene issues.  Furthermore, the Government regularly recruits young persons aged between 18 and 35 who are eager to serve the community to join the Government’s advisory committees through the MSSY with a view to providing more opportunities for young people to participate in policy discussion. read more
