Public Libraries to introduce e-resources in Book Fair booth

The Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) will once again set up a booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair this year to introduce its rich e-resources. The Book Fair will be held from tomorrow (July 18) to July 24 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Located at 1A-D19 on 1/F, the booth will have tablets to let visitors experience the convenience of accessing its e-resources, including different e-book collections. Library staff will be present to introduce how to use these e-resources. A photo kiosk providing numerous types of thematic background material on libraries and e-reading will also be set up in the booth. Visitors can take photos, get a photo print immediately and share the photo via email.

The HKPL continuously enhances its digital collection. For example, TumbleBookLibrary – an interactive database of animated English e-books selected from well-established publishers of children’s books around the world – was newly launched this month. It contains animated talking storybooks, National Geographic videos, puzzles and games, as well as audio books in other foreign languages, which are suitable for children of all ages. Other e-resources suitable for children include BookFlix, eBooks on EBSCOhost, FunPark and many more.

The popular HyRead and SUEP Chinese e-book collections are also available in the HKPL’s e-resources. Members of the public are welcome to visit the HKPL’s booth at the Book Fair, or visit www.hkpl.gov.hk/en/e-resources/index.html, to learn more and enjoy a wide range of e-resources. read more
