     The Hong Kong Observatory has issued the Very Hot Weather Warning.

     To prevent heat stroke, avoid prolonged activities outdoors.

     If engaged in outdoor work or activities, wear a wide-brimmed hat and light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes. Stay in shaded areas as much as possible.

     Drink plenty of water, and avoid beverages containing caffeine or alcohol.

     If you feel sick, consult a doctor right away.

     Police today (July 21) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Tin Sum.

     Chung Chun-shun, aged 74, went missing after he left his residence on Tin Sam Street yesterday (July 20) afternoon. His family made a report to Police on the same day.

     He is about 1.7 metres tall, 57 kilograms in weight and of thin build. He has a long face with yellow complexion and short straight black hair. He was last seen wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt, black shorts and green shoes.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Person Unit of New Territories South on 3661 1176 or 9689 7445, or email to rmpu-nts-2@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (July 21) that due to the maintenance of the shark prevention net and also sighting of a stingray which is about 1 metre long inside the enclosed zone of the net, Hoi Mei Wan Beach in Tsuen Wan District has been temporarily closed and a red flag has been hoisted at the beach.

     Notices have been posted at the beach to remind beach-goers not to swim until further notice in order to ensure safety.

     The LCSD is handling the case together with relevant departments and experts. The beach will be reopened when it is confirmed that there is no big fish inside the enclosed zone of the shark prevention net and the net is in good condition.

     The LCSD reminds beach-goers not to touch, disturb or catch the stingray.

     The Home Affairs Department will open 18 temporary night heat shelters tonight (July 21) for people in need of the service.
      
     The shelters will be open from 10.30pm until 8am tomorrow.

     Here is an item of interest to swimmers.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (July 21) that Victoria Park Swimming Pool in Wan Chai District has been temporarily closed for cleaning and superchlorination following the discovery of a small amount of vomit and faeces in the pool.

     It will be reopened at 7.30pm today.

     The department appeals to swimmers to be considerate and to keep the swimming pools clean. They are advised not to swim after a full meal and should use the toilet facilities if necessary before swimming.
