Appeal for information on missing man in Sheung Shui (with photo)

     Police today (February 20) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Sheung Shui.

     Ku Chun-yiu, aged 61, went missing after he left Tsung Pak Long on February 10. His family made a report to Police on February 12.
         
     He is about 1.65 metres tall, 59 kilograms in weight and of medium build. He has a round face with yellow complexion and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket, black trousers and pink slippers.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Persons Unit of New Territories North on 3661 3115 or 6273 5787 or email to rmpu-ntn-1@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.

MD announcement

Attention duty announcers, radio and TV stations:

     Please broadcast the following as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

     The Marine Department today (February 20) reminded masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in Hong Kong waters to proceed at a safe speed and exercise extreme caution because restricted visibility of less than 2 nautical miles has been reported. Appropriate sound signals shall be made when underway or at anchor. All vessels must comply with the International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea.
     Also, when radar is used without the benefit of adequate plotting facilities, the information obtained from the equipment is rather limited and should be construed accordingly.

     Visibility reports are broadcast by the Vessel Traffic Centre (VTC) on VHF channels 02, 12, 14, 63 and 67.

     In the event of an accident, a report shall be made immediately to the VTC at Tel: 2233 7801.




LegCo to consider Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill 2023

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (February 21) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill 2023 will resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receive its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.

     The Second Reading debate on the Inland Revenue (Amendment) (Aircraft Leasing Tax Concessions) Bill 2023 will also resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receive its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.

     On Members' motions, Mr Yang Wing-kit will move a motion on polishing Hong Kong's tourism brand. The motion is set out in Appendix 1. Mr Shang Hailong, Mr Michael Tien, Ms Nixie Lam, Mr Yiu Pak-leung and Mr Tang Ka-piu will move separate amendments to Mr Yang's motion.

     Mr Lau Kwok-fan will also move a motion on reviewing the works approval process and aligning construction standards, and leveraging innovative technologies to reduce construction costs and time. The motion is set out in Appendix 2. Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Mr Kingsley Wong and Mr Louis Loong will move separate amendments to Mr Lau's motion.

     During the meeting, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr Shiu Ka-fai, will present the "Report of the Public Accounts Committee on Report No. 81 of the Director of Audit on the Results of Value for Money Audits" and address the Council.

     Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.

Appeal for information on missing man in Kwai Chung (with photo)

     Police today (February 19) appealed to the public for information on a man who went missing in Kwai Chung.

     Ip Siu-kwong Eric, aged 40, went missing after he left his residence in Shek Yam Estate on September 2, 2023. His family made a report to Police on December 27 in the same year.
              
     He is about 1.75 metres tall, 70 kilograms in weight and of medium build. He has a square face with yellow complexion and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue top and black shoes.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing man or may have seen him is urged to contact the Regional Missing Persons Unit of New Territories South on 3661 1176 or 9415 4495 or email to rmpu-nts-2@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.
