Islanders get round-the-clock care

     Thanks to the first aid posts established by the Hospital Authority (HA) at four general out-patient clinics in the Islands District, local residents can have 24-hour access to medical assistance.
      
     News.gov.hk spoke with the doctor in charge of the HA Mui Wo General Out-patient Clinic to learn more about the purposes served by the posts, and to a local resident who shared his experience of receiving first aid assistance at the Mui Wo post.

21st round of computer ballot registration for submitting applications for Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles to open February 26 to 29

     The Transport Department today (February 25) reminded members of the public that the 21st round of computer ballot registration for submitting applications for Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles (the scheme) will be open from 10am tomorrow (February 26) to 11.59pm on February 29, and the ballot result will be announced on March 1.
      
     Eligible applicants for the scheme can register for computer balloting through the designated website (www.hzmbqfs.gov.hk). Successful balloting applicants are required to submit applications for the scheme within the designated date and time randomly allocated by the computer system.

     The fire danger situation today (February 25) is yellow and the risk of fire is high. People are urged to prevent fires breaking out and hikers should also be vigilant.




Director of Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of CPC Central Committee and Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of State Council Mr Xia Baolong inspects district governance in Hong Kong (with photos/video)

     The Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Xia Baolong, continued his inspection visit to Hong Kong and inspected the city's district governance today (February 24).
 
     In the morning, accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, and the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, Mr Xia commenced his inspection of the latest situation of district governance in the New Territories, starting with having morning tea with district personalities at a restaurant in Tseung Kwan O, where he learned about the situation of the local district and interacted and exchanged views with them on local livelihood issues.

     Mr Xia then visited the Sai Kung District Office and had an engagement session with the District Officer (Sai Kung) and Chairman of the Sai Kung District Council, Miss Kathy Ma, as well as members of the District Council, where he listened to their sharing of views on the planning and implementation of district services in Sai Kung.

     At noon, Mr Xia, still accompanied by Mr Lee and Miss Mak, had a working lunch with the chairmen of the 18 District Councils to interact with them and exchange views on district governance issues.

     In the afternoon, Mr Xia, in the company of Mr Lee and the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, visited the Lion Rock Park in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon, and took in an up-close view of the Lion Rock, which symbolises the Hong Kong spirit of resilience and solidarity. 

     Mr Xia will continue his inspection visit to Hong Kong tomorrow (February 25).

Appeal for information on missing woman in Yau Ma Tei (with photos)

     Police today (February 24) appealed to the public for information on a woman who went missing in Yau Ma Tei.

     Li Siu-kuen, aged 68, went missing after she was last seen at the junction of Shanghai Street and Pak Hoi Street in the small hours today. Her family made a report to Police on the same day.

     She is about 1.5 metres tall, 52 kilograms in weight and of thin build. She has a long face with yellow complexion and long grey and white hair. She was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeved floral shirt, blue trousers, grey shoes and carrying a blue handbag.

     Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing woman or may have seen her is urged to contact the Regional Missing Persons Unit of Kowloon West on 3661 8036 or 9020 6542 or email to rmpu-kw@police.gov.hk, or contact any police station.
