Suspension of service of Registration and Electoral Office at Kwun Tong

     The Registration and Electoral Office (REO) today (February 21) learned that an Electoral Assistant who had undergone a rapid test has received a preliminary positive result for COVID-19.

     The Electoral Assistant concerned works at the REO's office at Unit 2301-03, Millennium City 6, 392 Kwun Tong Road, Kwun Tong. His duties include receipt of election returns and claims for financial assistance lodged by candidates or their representatives behind partitioned counters inside the conference room of the office to maintain social distancing with the public. He last performed duties on February 17. He underwent temperature screening when attending work and his body temperature was normal. He wore a mask while on duty.

     Upon notification of the case, the REO immediately arranged for co-workers of the Electoral Assistant to undergo COVID-19 testing, and a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the premises concerned pursuant to the guidelines set out by the Centre for Health Protection.

     The service of the aforementioned REO office has been suspended from 2pm today until further notice. The REO will set up a temporary document collection counter outside the office for candidates or their representatives to submit election returns and, if applicable, claims for financial assistance.
