â€‹The Immigration Department (ImmD) has learned today (February 25) that two detainees in Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre have tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

To ensure the safety of detainees and staff, the official and social visit services of the Centre will be suspended from tomorrow (February 26) until further notice to facilitate comprehensive disinfection and arrangement of COVID-19 tests for the detainees and staff. In consideration of the individual needs of the detainees, every detainee will be allowed to receive approved hand-in articles delivered to the centre by his or her visitors once between February 26 and March 11. Persons concerned may contact the staff of the Centre's visit room to follow up by telephone in urgent cases.

The ImmD will continue to maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) and actively co-operate with the CHP's quarantine arrangements. The ImmD has also reminded its staff to pay attention to personal hygiene and stay vigilant. Staff have been reminded to seek medical advice and inform the department as soon as possible if feeling unwell.
