Suspension of classes of all day schools and work arrangements under extreme conditions
The Government announced that classes of all day schools will be suspended today (September 8) due to extreme conditions caused by extensive flooding and serious traffic disruption, owing to torrential rain brought by the trough of low pressure associated with remnant of Haikui.
Separately, the Government appealled to employers to observe work arrangements under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 and give due consideration to the safety of employees and the feasibility of travelling from home to place of work, and adopt a sympathetic and flexible work arrangement.
The extreme conditions will at least continue until noon. The Government will remain vigilant in assessing the latest situation of the weather, roads and public transport services, and announce to end the extreme conditions as appropriate. Members of the public should stay alert to further government announcements during the period.
