Support for creative industries under sixth round of AEF
The Cinemas Subsidy Scheme and the Pyrotechnics and Special Effects Operators Subsidy Scheme under the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund (AEF) will accept applications from tomorrow (February 18).
The Cinemas Subsidy Scheme is open for application from February 18 to March 3. Further to the fifth round of the AEF, the Government will provide a one-off subsidy again under the Cinemas Subsidy Scheme to existing cinemas licensed as a place of public entertainment and with commercial operation in December 2021. The subsidy for each screen is $100,000 with the maximum subsidy for a cinema circuit capped at $3 million.
The Pyrotechnics and Special Effects Operators Subsidy Scheme under the sixth round of the AEF is open for application from February 18 to March 11. The Scheme will provide a one-off subsidy of $10,000 to each eligible special effects operator (SEO) and assistant (SEA) holding at least one valid licence between February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022, issued under the Entertainment Special Effects Ordinance (Cap. 560) and its subsidiary legislation, and who have not benefited from any other sector-specific subsidy schemes under the AEF since January 2022. Same practitioners holding different types of SEO/SEA licences would only be eligible to receive a maximum subsidy amount of $10,000.
The application details of the above schemes are available at Create Hong Kong's website (www.createhk.gov.hk). Create Hong Kong encourages all eligible cinema operators and SEOs/SEAs to apply.
