Special traffic arrangements for National Day Flag Raising Ceremony
Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate the holding of the National Day Flag Raising Ceremony on October 1 in Wan Chai North.
The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 00.01am tomorrow (September 30) to noon on October 1:
A. Road closure
The following roads will be closed, except for vehicles with permit:
1. Expo Drive;
2. Expo Drive Central;
3. Expo Drive East;
4. The slip road leading from Central-Wan Chai Bypass to Expo Drive;
5. Fleming Road between Expo Drive Central and Convention Avenue; and
6. Eastbound Lung Wo Road between the Wan Chai entrance of eastbound Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Fleming Road.
In addition, westbound Lung Wo Road between the Wan Chai exit of westbound Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Fleming Road will be closed from 5.30am to noon on October 1.
B. Traffic diversions
1. Traffic along eastbound Lung Wo Road must turn right to southbound Lung Hop Street or enter eastbound Central-Wan Chai Bypass;
2. Traffic turning right from northbound Lung Hop Street to eastbound Lung Wo Road can only enter eastbound Central–Wan Chai Bypass; and
3. Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot enter Expo Drive East.
Traffic along westbound Convention Avenue destine for westbound Lung Wo Road must turn left to southbound Fleming Road, via northbound Fleming Road, westbound Harbour Road, westbound Fenwick Pier Street and northbound Lung Hop Street from 5.30am to noon on October 1.
C. Suspension of parking spaces and pick-up/drop-off area
The coach parking spaces and pick-up/drop-off area at Expo Drive and Expo Drive East will be suspended.
Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precincts of special traffic arrangements will be towed away without prior warning or subject to multiple ticketing.
Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to drive with care and patience and follow the instructions of the Police on site.
