The Transport Department (TD) today (March 22) reminded members of the public that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in phases this weekend (March 23 and 24) to facilitate the holding of the World Triathlon Cup event in Central and Wan Chai districts.
Intermittent road closures will be implemented by the Police in the vicinities of Central Harbourfront and Wan Chai North (including Lung Wo Road, Yiu Sing Street, Lung Hop Street, Expo Drive, Expo Drive Central, and Expo Drive East) from 6am to 8am this Saturday (March 23), during which vehicular traffic may be affected.
The section of Expo Drive between Legislative Council Road and Expo Drive Central will also be temporarily closed from 10am on Saturday to 6pm on Sunday (March 24).
Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented in phases in the vicinities of the aforementioned road sections from 1am on Sunday to reopening of the closed roads at about 6pm on the same day. Four bus routes (including Citybus route Nos. H1 and H2, and cross-harbour bus route Nos. 104 and 961) traversing the affected road sections will be subject to temporary diversions via Fleming Road or Connaught Road Central.
Moreover, the terminal point of cross-harbour bus route No. 961 at Expo Drive East will be relocated to Harbour Road outside the Wan Chai Swimming Pool from 1am to 12.30pm this Sunday, when the bus stop of Citybus route No. H1 at Expo Drive East near Golden Bauhinia Square will also be temporarily suspended.
Members of the public are advised to make use of public transport services as far as possible to avoid traffic congestion and unnecessary delays. During the event, the TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation. The Police may adjust the traffic arrangements subject to the prevailing crowd and traffic conditions in the areas. Members of the public should pay attention to the latest traffic news through radio, television or the "HKeMobility" mobile application.
For details of the special traffic and public transport arrangements, members of the public may visit the TD website (www.td.gov.hk), its mobile application "HKeMobility" or passenger notices issued by the relevant public transport operators.
