SFH meets with NHC officials via video conferencing

     â€‹The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, had a meeting with the Director of the Bureau of Medical Administration, National Health Commission (NHC), Ms Jiao Yahui, via video conferencing today (February 25) to exchange views on the treatment of COVID-19.
      
     A number of officials and experts of the NHC, together with the Mainland COVID-19 medical expert delegation staying in Hong Kong, the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, Dr Tony Ko, as well as some Hong Kong experts also joined the meeting.
      
     Professor Sophia Chan said, "The Chief Executive has announced a set of actions to stabilise and control the epidemic, among them treating COVID-19 patients is an important part. With the Central Government's experience and guidance in fighting the epidemic, along with its support in manpower and resources, our treatment capability will be enhanced so as to reduce severe cases and deaths.
      
     "Hong Kong and Mainland experts have been co-operating closely in medical aspect. In the past few days, the visiting Mainland COVID-19 medical expert delegation gained a deeper understanding of the actual situation in treating COVID-19 patients in the city. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will follow up on the recommendations and advice offered by the experts, with a view to further improving the treatment. The Hospital Authority has also announced that Tin Shui Wai Hospital will utilise all 300 beds in the hospital to receive COVID-19 patients from midnight Saturday (February 26) onwards. The contingency measure can help concentrate manpower and resources to care for patients and cope with the severe epidemic situation."
