Senior Police Call shares love with elderly in celebration of HKSAR 25th anniversary (with photos)
Senior Police Call (SPC) launched its annual highlight event “SPC Share the Love” today (May 28) to express care and love to the elderly and the people in need.
Officiating at the kick off ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Siu Chak-yee, expressed gratitude to the community for their continuous support and effort in preparing the annual event despite the challenges of the pandemic, making it a resounding success across the city.
During the ceremony, a video entitled “Blessing Bags Across Generations” was shown, in which SPC honorary presidents and members together with youngsters of each police district passed around the blessing bags across the territory. SPC’s mascot, “Master Bean”, finally presented the blessing bag to the officiating guests on stage to kick off the event. Following the ceremony, with the wholehearted support of 22 police districts, blessing bags with food, daily necessities and anti-epidemic items will be distributed to the people in need.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the design of the publicity items and blessing bags showcases the characteristics of Hong Kong and its accomplishments in the past 25 years. It also expresses the aspirations for a better future.
Other officiating guests of the ceremony included the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Yuen Yuk-kin; the Director of Operations, Mr Chan Joon-sun; the Chairperson of SPC Central Advisory Board cum the Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island, Mr Kwok Pak-chung; the Vice-Chairperson of SPC Central Advisory Board cum the Chief Superintendent of Police Public Relations Branch, Ms Tsang Shuk-yin; the Chairperson of SPC Central Finance Committee, Mr Ngan Chi-wing; the Chairperson of SPC Central Activity and Organizing Committee, Dr Albert Wong; and Senior Superintendent of Police Public Relations Branch, Ms Yau Sin-man.
The SPC Scheme, rolled out in 2014, aims to promote crime prevention, anti-deception and road safety messages to the elderly. It also provides a platform for the elderly to participate in meaningful activities as well as to serve the community. As at April 30, more than 13,000 senior citizens have joined the SPC Scheme.
