Security Bureau holds parade by disciplined services and youth groups and fun day in celebration of National Day

     The Security Bureau (SB) led its disciplined services and auxiliary services, together with youth uniformed groups, to hold the Grand Parade by Disciplined Services and Youth Groups cum Fun Day for Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O today (October 1). To share in the joy of celebrating National Day, members assembled during the performances to form patterns, including the number "75" and the national flag.

     The grand parade by disciplined services and youth groups was held in the afternoon, kicked off by performances of bands from different disciplined services and auxiliary services. Amid the performance of the Police Band, members of the disciplined services and the youth uniformed groups marched onto the parade ground adopting the Chinese-style foot drill. It was followed by a flag-raising ceremony conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) flag party, with the playing and singing of the national anthem and a fly-past by Government Flying Service (GFS) helicopters.

     The officiating guest, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, inspected the disciplined services ceremonial guard and youth and uniformed groups. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Chan said that various sectors responded positively to the Government's call to hold diverse activities across the territory to celebrate National Day, fully demonstrating their admiration and best wishes for the country. He said it was heartening to see the performances of the disciplined services, auxiliary services and the youth groups showcasing their solidarity and determination to uphold the dignity of the country. He also encouraged young people to contribute to the country.

     Subsequent performances included a music show by the Police Band, a joint foot drill demonstration by disciplined services, lion and dragon dance and boxing performances by youth group members, and an appliance parade by various disciplined services and auxiliary services. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Police Band arranged for 75 members to participate in today's parade, while members of the foot drill, music and youth groups performances formed patterns representing the number "75" and the national flag.

     Exhibition and game booths were hosted by the SB and eight disciplined services and auxiliary services to deepen public understanding of their daily operations. The FSD conducted rescue and training demonstrations that included firefighting and rescue, ambulance training, swift water rescue, high-angle rescue training, compartment fire behaviour training, hazardous material incident training and traffic accident rescue. GFS aircraft was also displayed. Members of the public were provided with a rare opportunity to view the equipment up close.

     The disciplined services participating in the grand parade included the Hong Kong Police Force, the Immigration Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the Correctional Services Department, the FSD, and the GFS. The youth groups of various disciplined services, the Auxiliary Medical Service Cadet Corps, the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps and the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association also took part.

     Today's activities were broadcast live via television as well as related social media platforms and websites. Live broadcast platform included the Weibo page of the SB, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) TV 32, the Facebook page of RTHK VNEWS, and RTHK's YouTube channel and website.
