​The Security Bureau (SB) led its disciplined services and auxiliary services, together with youth uniformed groups, to hold the Parade by Disciplined Services and Youth Groups cum Carnival for Celebrating the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O today (October 1) to celebrate National Day with members of the public as well as deepening their understanding of the country and the work of the disciplined services.
The parade by disciplined services and youth groups was held in the afternoon. Amid the performance of the Police Band, the disciplined services ceremonial guard and the youth uniformed groups marched into the parade ground adopting the Chinese-style foot drill. It was followed by a flag-raising ceremony conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) flag party, with the playing and singing of the National Anthem and a fly-past by Government Flying Service (GFS) helicopters. The officiating guest, Mr Tang Yat-sun, inspected the disciplined services ceremonial guard and youth uniform groups, and delivered a speech.
Subsequent performances included a music show by the Police Band and the Police Band Cadet, an appliance parade by various disciplined services and auxiliary services, and a joint work and rescue departmental drill, bringing a wonderful experience to the audience.
The SB and its disciplined services and auxiliary services also set up attractive exhibition and game booths at the carnival to showcase the work on national security, the close ties between the services and the Mainland, as well as different aspects of the forces. Members of the public could also vote for the most outstanding booth. The carnival also featured demonstrations by the disciplined services' working dogs as well as rescue demonstrations by the FSD including firefighting and rescue, ambulance training, swift water rescue, high-angle rescue training, compartment fire behaviour training, hazardous material incident training and traffic accident rescue.
The disciplined services participating in the parade include the Correctional Services Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the FSD, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Immigration Department and the GFS. The youth groups of various disciplined services, the Auxiliary Medical Service Cadet Corps, the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps, the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps and the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association also took part.
