SCST congratulates Siobhan Bernadette Haughey on winning gold in Asian Games (with photos)
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, today (September 25) congratulated swimming athlete Siobhan Bernadette Haughey on reaping a gold medal in Women's 200m Freestyle at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.
Mr Yeung said in Hangzhou, "Siobhan Bernadette Haughey won gold with her outstanding performance and brought glory to Hong Kong again, making all Hong Kong citizens proud. I have already witnessed the Hong Kong, China Delegation gaining over 10 medals during the two days when I watched competitions in Hangzhou. I am really thrilled. I also wish Hong Kong athletes more excellent results in the upcoming events at the Asian Games."
Mr Yeung continued his visit to Hangzhou today and met with the Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, Mr Gao Zhidan. Accompanied by the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Vincent Liu, and the Commissioner for Sports, Mr Sam Wong, Mr Yeung visited the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre and watched Wushu competitions in which Hong Kong athletes took part. They then watched several events in the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena.
Mr Yeung will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning (September 26).
The Hong Kong delegation has so far won 14 medals in the Asian Games, namely three golds, four silvers and seven bronzes. The list of medals won today is as follows:
