SB dedicated task force continues to assist in early return of rescued Hong Kong resident in Thailand (with photos)

     The Security Bureau (SB) today (January 22) said that members of the dedicated task force, who arrived in Thailand yesterday (January 21), met with units under the Royal Thai Police and the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand today, striving to assist in the early return of a Hong Kong resident who was detained for illegal work in Southeast Asian countries and rescued days ago.

     The dedicated task force, comprising members from the SB, the Hong Kong Police Force and the Immigration Department, contacted different units soon after their arrival yesterday to confirm the actual situation of that person. They met with the officer-in-charge of the Immigration Detention Centre of the Royal Thai Police today to discuss ways to facilitate the return of the rescued Hong Kong resident as soon as possible. The Thai counterpart gave positive feedback and would do their utmost to assist.

     Later, members of the dedicated task force, joined by representatives from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok, met with staff of the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand and discussed the latest situation of the relevant case, as well as the rescue of assistance seekers who are still being detained. In addition, members of the task force also thanked the consulate staff for their assistance to the person concerned, including paying visit and providing supplies.
