S for S visits Macao to start Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area visit (with photos)
The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, arrived in Macao this morning (June 20) to start his two-day visit to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and call on public security units there.
On arrival, Mr Tang called on the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr Ho Iat-seng, and exchanged views and shared experiences on issues such as safeguarding national security, boundary control point infrastructure, facilitation of the flow of people between the two sides, and integration into the overall development of the country through in-depth development of the GBA with Macao. Mr Tang said that Hong Kong and Macao have close ties and that the law enforcement agencies of the two places will continue to maintain close contact and strengthen co-operation in various aspects to maintain the prosperity and stability of the two cities.
Mr Tang called on the Secretary for Security of Macao, Mr Wong Sio-chak, in the afternoon. The Commissioner General of the Unitary Police Service, Mr Leong Man-cheong, and the Commissioner of the Fire Services Bureau, Mr Leong Iok-sam were also in attendance. Mr Tang introduced in the meeting the new Greater Bay Area Emergency Response Operational Plan formulated by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to establish a more comprehensive, pragmatic and systematic emergency response mechanism to further enhance the capability of the GBA cities in handling incidents together.
Mr Tang called on various units including the Unitary Police Service, the Public Security Police Force and the Judiciary Police of Macao respectively and visited the Civil Protection Operations Centre today. Mr Tang expressed the hope to enhance collaboration with Macao through the visit in various fields including deepening co-operation between the two places on combatting cross-boundary crimes and emergency management, injecting new impetus into the co-ordinated development of the two places.
Mr Tang will continue the visit programme tomorrow (June 21) in Zhuhai and Jiangmen.
