The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang, will pay a five-day visit to Seattle and San Francisco in the United States and Vancouver in Canada from tomorrow (September 16) to Friday (September 20) to update the US and Canadian technology communities on Hong Kong's latest developments in the innovation and technology arena and foster closer ties.
The US leg of the visit to Seattle and San Francisco will run from Monday (September 16) to Wednesday (September 18). Mr Yang will meet with senior executives in the technology industry, visit innovation and technology enterprises and facilities and speak at luncheons on the latest developments of innovation and technology in Hong Kong and the multifaceted competitive advantages that Hong Kong can offer.
The visit programme in Vancouver on Thursday (September 19) and Friday morning (September 20) will include meetings with British Columbia provincial officials and visits to a technology accelerator and an incubator. Mr Yang will also meet with senior executives of healthcare technology institutes to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Mr Yang will leave for Seattle before midnight tonight and return to Hong Kong in the evening on Saturday (September 21). In his absence, the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr David Chung, will act as Secretary for Innovation and Technology.
