Dmitry Medvedev’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China. Welcome ceremony

We have built up a great deal of potential for cooperation development and worked out ways to discuss the most pressing issues of Russian-Chinese strategic partnership and interaction.

The 19^th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party was highly publicised in Russia. A range of strategic decisions has been made that will determine the development of the People’s Republic of China for the next decades.

Our relations are at an all-time high, the highest in our entire centuries-long history. Right now, all formats of intergovernmental consultations are in place. We have maintained these consultations for 22 years, since 1996.

We have achieved positive results in all areas. In 2016, mutual trade volume grew by 4 percent and in January−August 2017 by 35 percent. We can maintain this positive trend in industry, transport, aircraft design, energy and the high-tech sectors.

Dmitry Medvedev’s official visit to the People’s Republic of China. Presentation of state awards of the Russian Federation

It gives me great pleasure to bestow the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation on our Chinese colleagues here today. This award is presented to vice premiers of the People’s Republic of China Mr Wang Yang, Mr Zhang Gaoli and Ms Liu Yandong, who are co-chairs of Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commissions.

We have elevated the relations between our countries to the highest level ever, which is attributable to a significant extent to your efforts.

Preparing our regular meetings requires active and constant attention, and Mr Wang Yang as co-chair of the relevant commission has been very effective at this task. Since last year, we have been promoting cooperation in Russia’s Far East, in the Baikal region and northeast China.

We highly appreciate the development of cultural ties with China, and are grateful to Ms Liu Yandong for taking part in organising cultural and educational exchanges. A good example of these ties is the invariable success of Russia-China cross years.

Trade and economic relations are advancing regardless of the overall economic conditions. There are major investment and energy projects, and Mr Zhang Gaoli has been actively contributing to these efforts.
