The Road Safety Council 48th Anniversary Ceremony cum Carnival organised by the Road Safety Council was successfully held today (November 20) at the Grand Plaza of the Hong Kong Science Park.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Chairperson of the Road Safety Council and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Albert Yuen; the Chairperson of the Road Safety Research Committee and Deputy Commissioner for Transport (Planning and Technical Services), Mr Tony Yau; and the Chairlady of the Road Safety Campaign Committee, Miss Rebecca Ma.
Mr Yuen remarked that the number of cycling accidents in the first three quarters of 2021 has increased compared with the same period of last year. The Council will continue to organise various publicity and education campaigns to enhance the promotion of cycling safety and educate the public on the right attitude towards cycling.
Mr Yuen also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Council and the working partners for their contributions and support. He appealed to the public to continue to work together to realise the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong's Goal".
Divided into five zones, namely augmented reality (AR) games, virtual reality (VR) games, extended reality (XR) games, a photo booth and game booths, the carnival aimed to disseminate proper road safety message to the public through innovative ways.
