Rioters wreak havoc in Mong Kok at night while over 360 people arrested
The illegal activities of rioters concentrated in Mong Kok, Kowloon tonight (May 27). Some people occupied the carriageways in the vicinity of Nathan Road and Sai Yeung Choi Street South and set fire to miscellaneous objects. Explosions were heard from the blaze. In Wong Tai Sin, two persons were arrested for suspecting to possess a gas canister, a lighter and other items.
As at 9.30pm, Police had arrested over 360 people for offences including possession of offensive weapons, possession of instruments fit for unlawful purpose, unlawful assembly and participating in an unauthorised assembly. Three vehicles have been towed away by Police.
Police will continue to closely monitor the situation of various districts and enhance intelligence-gathering to prevent and combat crimes.
