Registration for Consumption Voucher Scheme to close on August 14
The registration for the Consumption Voucher Scheme will close this Saturday (August 14). The Government spokesman today (August 10) urged eligible people who have not yet registered to grasp the time to register. People choosing to upload their Hong Kong identity card (HKID card) copy for authentication in respect of their electronic registration should upload their HKID card copy via the Scheme website (www.consumptionvoucher.gov.hk) by August 16 to complete the registration procedure, otherwise the electronic registration submitted will be regarded as incomplete and will not be processed.
People submitting paper registration forms, or having completed the electronic registration on or after July 18, will receive the first voucher on September 1 after verification of eligibility.
The Government spokesman particularly reminded people choosing to submit paper registration forms that they must ensure their registration forms are completed with all the information required before submission, including an SMS-enabled mobile phone number as well as the declaration with regard to the "residing in Hong Kong" requirement. Registrants should then drop the completed form, together with a copy of their HKID card stapled to the form and folded, into the drop boxes at around 560 collection points, including post offices in various districts and designated bank branches during office hours. If the information or documents submitted by the registrant are incomplete, the registration cannot be processed further. In addition, since the deadline for registration under the Scheme falls on Saturday (August 14) when banks and post offices are closed in the afternoon, eligible people who plan to submit paper registration forms should do so on or before the morning of August 14.
Each eligible person can only register once and duplicated registrations will not be processed. Each selected stored value facility account can also be registered once only, which cannot be changed after submission of registration.
In general, people will receive an SMS notification informing them of their registration result around one week after completing the electronic registration. For registrants submitting paper registration forms, they will receive the SMS notification in around two weeks. If members of the public have not received any notification of their registration result at the relevant time, they may enquire about their registration status through the interactive voice response system of the hotline 18 5000.
The Government spokesman reminded the public again that they should protect their personal data carefully when registering for the Scheme and using the vouchers. They should only seek help from those they trust if assistance is needed.
The Government and its contractors will send SMS notifications related to the Scheme to registrants and communicate with them by designated telephone numbers only. Registrants will not be required to provide their personal data over the phone. The designated telephone numbers are listed on the Scheme website. The public should beware of phishing emails, online and telephone scams, and should not click on any hyperlink embedded in suspicious SMS notifications.
The public may visit the Scheme website or call the hotline 18 5000 for enquiries if they have any questions about the Scheme.
