The signed resolution provides for up to 535 million roubles to be allocated in 2017-2018 to implement the next phase of the UN World Food Programme project to replace trucks used for transporting humanitarian aid with Russian-made vehicles, and up to $1.5 million as a special-purpose contribution to the WFP fund for the development of logistics capacity, including the integration of KamAZ trucks into regional fleets of WFP trucks. Funds for these purposes are envisaged in the federal budget.

The document was developed by the Ministry of Finance in accordance with Presidential Directive No 274-rp of 27 July 2017 and the international obligations of the Russian Federation stipulated by the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the United Nations World Food Programme (hereinafter, respectively, the Agreement, WFP ) for 2014-2017. The agreement was signed in 2014 in accordance with the Government Directive No 1384-r of 24 July 2014.
Under the Agreement, Russia makes financial contributions to the WFP fund, paying particular attention to increasing the WFP auto fleet by providing KamAZ trucks and other related equipment.

The adopted decisions expand the range of areas of Russia’s cooperation with international humanitarian organisations of the UN system and the participation of Russian technical experts in the work of WFP on personnel training and vehicle maintenance.
