The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government today (December 21) commenced the public consultation exercise for the 2022-23 Budget.

The Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, said, "After going through the challenges in the past two years or so, Hong Kong's economy has been steadily improving since this year. The annual economic growth is expected to reach 6.4 per cent in 2021. Looking to the year ahead, the external political and economic environment is still complex and volatile and the pace of global economic recovery uneven and inconsistent, with possible fluctuations in the epidemic situation. When preparing the 2022-23 Budget, we will monitor closely the internal and external situations and provide support for and ease the pressure on affected businesses and members of the public when needed. We will also focus on strengthening and driving a sustained economic recovery for Hong Kong. I hope members of the community will express their views and provide suggestions on the coming Budget, and join hands to make Hong Kong a better home for everyone."

The Government has introduced various channels for collecting opinions.
