Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met yesterday with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. They affirmed their mutual interest in promoting security and stability in the region and their continued commitment to the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Qatar. They discussed the importance of the Government of Qatar’s ongoing support for peace in Afghanistan, and in promoting regional stability and recent progress towards an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process. They also discussed support for Iraq government formation.
