Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan met today with Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, and Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak. On the 70th anniversary of the founding of the NATO Alliance, they also marked the anniversaries of the Czech, Hungarian, Polish, and Slovak accessions to NATO, which have contributed significantly to the stability and security of Central Europe. They also discussed the importance of continued U.S. collaboration with the Visegrad Group in the security and defense sectors, in energy security, and in addressing Russian and Chinese malign influence in the region.
