Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan and Lao Foreign Minister Saleumaxay Kommasith met November 14 on the margins of the East Asia Summit in Singapore. The Deputy Secretary reaffirmed our ongoing commitment to the U.S.-Laos Comprehensive Partnership, and underscored our desire to continue to strengthen our bilateral engagement and commercial ties. The Lao Foreign Minister confirmed Laos’ continued commitment to enforcing UNSC resolutions on the DPRK. The Deputy Secretary also thanked the Foreign Minister for Laos’ support as the ASEAN Country Coordinator for the United States, underlining that ASEAN is central to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
