Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan and other senior Department officials met with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on July 24 and 25 on the margins of the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom at the Department of State. Discussions focused on the strong U.S.-Bangladesh strategic partnership; the ongoing humanitarian assistance to the Rohingya in Bangladesh and efforts to facilitate their voluntary, safe, and dignified repatriation to Burma; and the importance of free and fair elections. Deputy Secretary Sullivan expressed his appreciation to Foreign Minister Ali for his participation in the Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom.
